Last night’s gig at the Rush Green Community Association was a memorable night, and a whirlwind of unexpected twists and heartwarming moments.
As a devoted West Ham fan, I set out early to catch a glimpse of the nearby training ground, only to realise halfway to the venue that I had left behind a crucial piece of equipment.
Always Leave Early
A detour back home added an extra hour to my journey, dashing my hopes of visiting the training ground. Nevertheless, I made it to the gig on time, ensuring that everything ran smoothly without a hitch.
The event was a special birthday celebration for Jim, a cherished member of the community.
Surrounded by family and friends, Jim was showered with well-wishes and reunions with long-lost acquaintances, creating an atmosphere of heartfelt conversations rather than non-stop dancing.
Despite the laid-back vibe, I enjoyed experimenting with new transitions during my set, including the seamless blend of “Dreamer” by Livin Joy into “This Girl” by Kungs vs. Cookin’ on 3 Burners—a musical fusion that resonated with the crowd.
Colourful Dandruff
The highlight of the evening came when Jim took to the dance floor for his birthday moment, greeted by a cascade of confetti cannons that added a touch of whimsy to the celebration. With colourful paper speckling his shoulders like colourful dandruff, Jim graciously thanked his guests before we kicked off the festivities with Cliff Richard’s classic hit, “Congratulations.”
As the night drew to a close around 23:15, my attention turned to the logistics of navigating the ULEZ charging zone before midnight to avoid additional fees.
TFL Website Needs To Be Idiot Proof
Despite my best efforts to decipher the boundaries, uncertainty loomed over whether I would be charged twice for my journey in and out of the zone.
A post-gig deep dive into the TFL website left me grappling with confusion, prompting a Monday morning call to clarify the situation.
Reflecting on the evening’s events, I couldn’t help but ponder my previous decision to steer clear of gigs in the ULEZ zone.
Perhaps it’s a reminder that even amidst the challenges and unexpected turns, every gig holds its own unique blend of experiences and memories.
Here’s to embracing the journey, both on and off the dance floor, and finding the rhythm in life’s surprises.
